M. Cecil Padgett Outstanding Achievement Award Recipients
The M. Cecil Padgett Outstanding Achievement Award is one of the highest honors conferred by the Alabama Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators (AASFAA). Named after the distinguished financial aid director at Spring Hill College in Mobile, who passed away in April 1999, this award recognizes individuals who have provided exemplary service in the field of student financial aid over a sustained period. Recipients of this prestigious award are acknowledged for their outstanding dedication, significant contributions, and remarkable achievements in advancing student financial aid and higher education in Alabama. The award honors those who have made lasting strides in supporting student assistance programs and embody the spirit of excellence that Mr. Padgett represented.
John H. Buchanan, Jr. Distinguished Service Award Recipients
The John H. Buchanan Jr. Distinguished Service Award is one of AASFAA's highest honors, named after former Alabama Congressman Buchanan, who served with distinction on the House Education Committee during the 1970s and 1980s. This award is presented to an individual, group, or organization—whether or not they are a member of AASFAA—who is not typically a practicing student financial aid administrator. It recognizes outstanding and dedicated service in the area of student financial aid over a sustained period. Recipients of this prestigious award have made significant contributions to Alabama's higher education and student assistance programs, benefiting students, parents, institutions, and professionals in the field.
Legacy Scholarship Program
The Legacy Scholarship Program is a meaningful way to honor the memory of our cherished friends. By supporting exceptional students in need of financial assistance to pursue their education, AASFAA continues to uphold the spirit and legacy of those we've lost. Currently, AASFAA offers five Legacy Scholarships: the Shirley Speer Scholarship, Bill Gentry Scholarship, Floyd Johnston Scholarship, Theresa Duke Scholarship, and Williams H. Wall Scholarship.
